About This Course

This course provides a hands-on introduction to data analytics and machine learning using R. It builds on real-word data sets from the realm of energy efficiency and consumer behavior and conveys the learning trough hands-on examples and practical challenges.

What you will learn

Following a refresher in descriptive statistic, you will acquire

  • skills to design and use information systems to collect behavioral data
  • skills to formulate, solve, and interpret regression analysesformulate, solve, and interpret regression analyses
  • skills to conduct clustering analyses
  • skills to set up, train, and evaluate machine learning algorithms
  • programming skills in the statistics software R that allow you to efficiently perform the related tasks
  • a solid understanding of the ethical issues when dealing with personal data and of the privacy regulations to follow

Requirements

This course requires a basic underssdffsdfdtanding of statistics (e.g., from a bachelor-level course) and some very basic familiarity with programming languages. A statistics repetition and an introduction to R is part of the course.
